Erasmus+ is the European Union's flagship programme in the field of education and training, youth and sport. In higher education, it is intended for students, teaching and non-teaching staff of higher education institutions. The main objective of Erasmus is to encourage the mobility of students and staff to different institutions abroad with the aim of strengthening international experiences, acquiring new knowledge, networking and sharing good practice.
Projects can be focused on mobility or cooperation with foreign institutions, the implementation of which finds solutions to current challenges in the field of education, profession and the labor market.

The selection of candidates for mobility of teaching and non-teaching staff is carried out through a competition announced by the International Relations Office of the University of Zagreb, most often in May for the next academic year.
The selection decision is made by the International Cooperation Committee of the University of Zagreb, which also forms a waiting list if necessary. Teaching and non-teaching staff who submit an application, successfully pass the administrative check, but are not selected for funding, can achieve mobility at their own expense (so-called zero-grant staff ).
